1. One-paragraph summary
JunkRabbit Boston is a junk removal service for Boston and the inner suburbs, built for a city of triple-deckers, walk-up brownstones and a September 1 move-out rush. Items come down from any floor of a triple-decker in Dorchester or a Back Bay walk-up at the same flat per-item price, carried out from inside. Customers pick items or upload a photo and see an itemized total before booking, with no call needed. Vetted, insured local haulers work 7 days a week from 8am to midnight, with same-day pickup when booked by 4 PM. A standard sofa is $170, a queen mattress $139 and a full truck $985.
2. What JunkRabbit is built for in Boston
Triple-deckers and walk-ups
Much of Boston's housing is three-family triple-deckers and elevator-free row houses with narrow, turning stairs. A sofa costs the same from the third floor as from the first, and crews disassemble when a frame won't clear the landing, at no stairs fee. See the triple-decker stairs problem.
September 1 and graduation move-outs
Leases across Allston, Brighton, Fenway and Mission Hill turn over around September 1, and students move out every May. Those weeks fill up, so booking a few days ahead helps. See September 1 move-out junk removal.
Mattresses and TVs
Massachusetts keeps mattresses and televisions out of ordinary household trash, so they are handled separately from regular collection. JunkRabbit takes both at a flat price, with the disposal handled for you.
Winter
From January, snow banks make the curb a poor place to leave anything. Pickup from inside means nothing waits outside for a collection day.
3. Verified pricing
Prices below come from the live JunkRabbit pricing engine for Boston, verified on the date at the top of this page. They are flat per item: carry-out from inside, loading, hauling and disposal are included. No floor or walk-up surcharge, no elevator fee, no same-day or weekend surcharge, no COI fee, no refrigerant fee. The minimum order is $100. Piles and cleanouts are priced by how much of the 16-cubic-yard truck they fill.

6. How a pickup works
- See the price. Pick items or upload a photo at boston.getjunkrabbit.com. The total appears on screen, with no call and no phone number needed to see it.
- Book. Choose an arrival window, any day 8am to midnight, and add a card. Same-day is available if booked by 4 PM.
- (If needed) COI. Add the managing agent at checkout; the certificate goes out within 1 hour.
- Pickup. A vetted, insured local hauler comes inside, takes items from any floor, disassembles if needed and carries everything out. You get text updates on the day.
- Price check. If there are extra items that weren't in the booking, the crew shows the updated price and waits for your approval before loading them.
- Disposal. We try to donate usable items when local charities accept them and recycle whatever we can; refrigerants are recovered from fridges and AC units.
7. vs Boston-area municipal bulk collection
Whether you can use free bulk pickup in Boston depends on who collects your trash: addresses on city collection generally have some large-item arrangement, while larger apartment buildings on private contracts, condos, student housing and the surrounding cities (Cambridge, Somerville, Brookline and others) each follow their own rules. Municipal crews collect curbside only, and mattresses, TVs and electronics, refrigerant appliances and renovation debris are restricted or excluded. Check your own city's current bulky-item page first.
If you're on city collection with an accepted item you can carry to the sidewalk on the right day, the municipal option is cheapest. JunkRabbit is for everything else: items that have to come down from an upper floor, mattresses and TVs, private-contract buildings, large move-out loads, and anything that has to go today. 8. vs national operators
National franchises such as 1-800-GOT-JUNK and Junk King typically quote by truck volume and confirm the final price once the crew sees the job. JunkRabbit publishes a flat price for each item online, so the total is known before booking, and the job is done by a vetted, insured local hauler. There is no stairs fee and no same-day surcharge.
