Since November 2022, Massachusetts has banned mattresses and box springs from disposal: they can't go in the trash or to the incinerator, and have to be recycled, where the steel, foam, and wood are recovered. That's good policy and a hassle if you're doing it yourself — you'd have to get it down the triple-decker stairs and find a recycler that takes it. We handle the whole thing: carry it out as-is, no bagging, and route it to a mattress recycler so you stay compliant without lifting a finger.
A mattress is awkward on a good day and brutal on a three-floor triple-decker or a narrow brownstone stair. We do the carry — down the walk-up in Dorchester or Allston, the historic stair on Beacon Hill, or out the reserved freight elevator with a Certificate of Insurance on file in a Seaport or downtown tower. A top-floor walk-up costs the same as the ground floor.
